Prayer Life
I have really been convicted lately of my prayer life, or lack of I should say. I do not spend enough time with God in prayer. I have a tendency to treat prayer as a laundry list of things that I want and things that I need rather than what God wants for me. Our society has gotten so busy that we want everything in our time frame. Fast food, instant messages, email, cell phones. We have no time to wait on answers. If we don't get an immediate response to the needs that we have at the time, we just stop asking. In Luke 18:1-7, there is a parable of a widow that persistently asks for justice against her adversary. In verse 7 it says "Will God not bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?" Our God is BIG. There is nothing that HE can't handle. Our job is to make those requests in prayers and petitions just like Jesus did in Hebrews 5:7. He modeled for us what we are to do. Cry out to God with a pure heart and honestly seek His will for your life. He knows what I need. He is my heavenly Father. He knows better than I do. Other scriptures to help with prayer life are: Eccl 5:1-2, Matt 6:7, 1 Tim 5:5, Phil 4:6, Rom 8:26-27, & Isa 38:5. Go to God in prayer but let your words be few! No begging! No babbling! Just seeking HIS will!
